Tim Russert

Tim Russert was a great political commentator.  He was also extremely nice when we stopped him outside of a rally in New Hampshire in '04 and asked him for a picture.  Very friendly guy, I was sad to hear the news that he died of a heartattack today..he will be missed.

THERE ARE ACTUALLY THREE OF THESE PICTURES, MY DAD WAS TAKING THE PIC AND DIDN'T KNOW THE TIMING OF THE DIGITAL CAMERA....I SAID IMPATIENTLY, "COME ON DAD!"  NOT KNOWING HE DID TAKE 3 SUCCESSFUL PICTURES.  RUSSERT CRACKED UP AND SAID, "YA DAD COME ON!"

I was thinking about you all seeing Russett in N.H. and remembered that picture. The wonderful comments that are coming in on the cable networks, talk radio and the like about what a fair and honest and hard working journalist he was and the love of his family is just amazing. I can only hope that he knew what a HUGE contribution he made with his time on this earth. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. love ya, Susan

P.S. I am looking at Big Russ & Me in our office right now.

I am so moved by all the tributes to Tim Russert. I was ushered into my political involvement through the inspiration of his devotion to his dad, his family and to the United States. He truly fulfilled the American Dream. With a hardworking father of two jobs, one as a sanitation worker, and one as the inspiration for his son. Russert exhibited compassion, devotion and political savvy and knowledge, much like your Dad. A great loss to the American public, through his honest and heartfelt love for America and American politics. It breaks my heart that he leaves behind his accomplished wife, his devoted father and son, and his committed fans of "Meet the Press." He will be remembered with love, compassion and respect for all that he stood for and all that he did for America. A very sad day, indeed.
Love,
Denise

Favorite Russert memory is the 2000 election. I think he was the only person in the country relishing in the closeness of the contest - standing there with his white board showing how it could go either way. How cool!

Tim Russert was a class act. He never raised his voice or tried to bully his guest, how different from the political commentators of today.

I read his amazing book that was a tribute to his father and absolutely loved it. If you haven't read it, I will pass it on to you! Great picture! Love you, Mom
