Vinny will announce one more year

Vin Scully throwing out the first pitch at opening day this year
I knew this day would come but it is still sad..After announcing for 60 years for the Dodgers Vin Scully has announced his retirement date. I will be glad to be a part of the farewell tour and will be going to most if not all of the key moments next season. Vinny will handle this with class..I picture him signing off with a final "good night everybody" and myself in tears....I will be one of millions on that day here in Dodgerland......I started to get emotional reading the announcement today.

2010 will be a very bittersweet season for this Dodger fan.

Our Garrett is an Awesome Garrett

Catalina

I figure if I didn't write a quick post on Catalina Susan might say to herself "Garrett didn't write a blog about Catalina, he wrote a blog about Dodger which is kinda weird, I hope he had a good time in Catalina"

So here it is folks....First time in Catalina since 1994 and first ever to the Two harbors port..it was great, I like the isthmus, it is a world away from Los Angeles and is one of the features of this area that makes it so cool to live in this area...All the Channel Islands are great, and I have been to 3 of them...I didn't take too many pictures because there were plenty taken by Dennis and Matt....but I took one of the pier.

Big thanks to our gracious host Dennis, the Captain of 'Serenity Now'......even if he did call me a wussy for almost passing out on our hike... (:

A Blog About Dodger

"Dodger" July 27th, 2009

Born just a few weeks after we got married, Dodger has been with us nearly from the beginning. Through Chico, Ventura, Bakersfield, and now Valencia, she has been with us all along. Nowdays she has lost a step or two, she has arthritis in her hips and is slowing down. She gets to be in the house all the time now as she is content just to lay at our feet and gnaw on a bone. She probably only has two or maybe three years left and throughout she has been our loyal pet.

Are you kidding me?!!!!

On Manny Ramierez Bobblehead night, the best hitter in baseball comes in to pinch hit with the bases loaded and a 2-2 tie....first pitch boom Grand Slam! This was the second greatest regular season moment I have seen in person..as I was lucky enough to be at the famous 4 homerun game. We were all going crazy in the stands! My team is the best team in the MLB and Matt and I are lucky enough to have a 1/3 season ticket package!

24 Hour Fitness

I go on average about 5 days a week to 24 hour and I would like to give you my reflections of some of the regulars........

There is a tall frat cat type with barbed wire tats on both biceps who is the store manager

There is a lady whose deltoids are so defined they look like a raised turtle shell (not attractive---she also smells like a musk deer and when she works out on the elliptical she does an exaggerted herky jerky motion that looks like she is having an epileptic seizure.

There is a hairy italian guy with a brillo fro that works out on the stair climber while leaning his head on the display like he is asleep...all the while there is so much sweat coming off him it looks like he has a hose attached to his armpits

There is an old couple who wait until they have their treadmills side by side (how cute) she always wears the same workout shirt which is red and has a bull on the back of it

There is a lady about the age of 55 or 60 who wears dark glasses and does some sort of weird tai chi in the middle of the floor creeping everyone out.

That's about it for now kids......Gym regulars can be colorful can't they?
