Full Body Scanners

With the latest Al Queda attack using the "underwear bomb" there is renewed call for tightened airport security. Most notably the Scanners that can see the outline of a persons body, including their breast, buttock, and genital reigon. (We don't quite have the 'Total Recall' Scanners that Arnold crashed through yet)

Puritanical privacy groups are against these scanners ostensibly because they are embarrassed that someone might see their disgusting flabby bodies and laugh at them? I don't know the reason cause I don't understand it. I say bring on the scanners! Heck if it cut down the lines I would walk onto the plane naked wearing nothing but a party favor on my tallywacker. But that's just me, I am full of whimsy during these final days of 2009.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Bring on the full body scanners and the no fly list for terrorist like the one that failed to bring down the Delta airlines plane. While most people, including some in the government that choose not to believe that there is a full on war against the United States of America going on there is and it is real!! The radical Islamic extremist are hell bent on killing as many Americans as they can. That is their goal in life........to kill the infidels. It's time to wake up and beat them at their game. Whatever it takes we need to beef up the security and start checking the minds of the people that want to declare Jihad on America.

I guess those 30,000 extra troops going to Afghanistan are "fake" right Cheney er, Susan? Funny, but I do not remember this outrage when Richard Reid failed in his attempt in 2001. Yet another example of "selective outrage" from the right. It is sad that a former V.P. did not condemn the attack on the United States but instead choose to play politics and blame our President for a failed attack. Did he hold Bush accountable for Richard Ried? Hmnnn....could it all be political?

Ah, what a way to escort 2009 out with a bit a good old fashion back and forth with regard to politics. First of all I do believe that Obamas appointee, General McCrystal called for 40,000to be sent to Afghanistan.....BUT Obama after months of soul searching decided that he knew better than his General and decided on 30,000!! V.P. Dick Cheney is without a doubt one of the most brilliant minds when it comes to protecting the United States of America. He is so far beyond playing the game of politics. He shoots from the hip (no pun intended) and calls it like is. There is nothing for Cheney in the game of politics anymore. The fact that this Islamic exteremist was NOT put on the no fly list after his own father called him out to the American Embassy in Nigeria 2 months before the parasite tried to take down the Delta Airlines plane is a major breach in the security. What Cheney said is true................that being that Obama doesn't understand that we are at war with Islamic terrorists that will stop at nothing to bring this Country to it's knees. Ring out the old year and bring in the new. Happy New Year and God Bless America...you
betcha!! Love you all, Susan

Happy New Year! I agree that Dick Cheney "is without a doubt one of the most brilliant minds when it comes to protecting America." Let us take a look at what this "brilliant" mind has said in regards to America's foreign policy:

"My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators."
-March 16, 2003
He just missed on that one!

"I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency."
-June 20, 2005

Where does this man get his crystal ball?

The great patriot, who had multiple chances to serve his country during the Vietnam War said, "I had other priorities in the 60's than military service."

See, he really loves the military!

Also, nothing for Cheney in the game of politics? Well, except for the book coming out, his think tank, his lucrative speaking fees, protecting his legacy, and running his own PAC from D.C. not Wyoming, but he is not political.

I love how the right has become soothsayers and is somehow getting in Obama's mind to tell us what Obama is really thinking. Again, we do not look at policy, we look at emotion. Because if we were did, we would realize that Obama kept a Bush appointee on as Sec of Defense! All of these facts make my head hurt!

I find it disgusting that Cheney is trying to undermine the President of the United States in a time of war. In wartime, you support the President and keep your fat mouth shut. How come Cheney, or Rush, or you, never said a word during the failed shoe bomber attack? So, do you hold Cheney accountable for his erroneous comments and the catastrophic war in Iraq, his five draft deferments, his failure to heed the national security briefing titled "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the United States"-dated August 18,
2001, over 4000 dead since he said we would be greeted as liberators, or, do we just look the other way and pretend he did not say that? Is this selective outrage all because you simply don't like Obama and the right gets a pass? Is this why you cannot even acknowledge that Obama kept Gates on as Sec/Defense? Is this why when he INCREASES the troop level in Afghanistan you still find fault?

Please respond to Cheney's comments as I am curious to hear your thoughts. Love politics and love you

There are alot of things that politicians believe will happen and not all of them do. War is unpredicable and things change constantly. Obama made alot of promises that haven't come to fruition such as the following:

1."I will make our government open and transparent." Hmmmmmmm... like not inviting any Republicans to the table on health care...new meaning of open and transparent, I guess.
2. "There will be no pork barrel projects slipped in any bill that passes my desk. It will be open for the public to see. No more secrecy." Haven't seen anything yet.
3."Any bill that comes to my desk the public will have 5 days to read it online." Must have missed that one too.
4."Any tax bill debated in Congress the public will be able to see the names of the Corporations and what type of tax break they will be getting AND every pork barrell project." Hmmm..slipped by me I guess
5."Any meetings between lobbyist and government agency will be put online as well." Shucks, I couldn't find it.

Purpose of pointing these things out are that Obama said alot of things and while it sounds good and intentions are good, sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Say what you want about Dick Cheney but he is a GREAT American and loves this Country deeply. He has enough money that he wouldn't have to sell one more book and go on the money speaking tour. While he didn't serve his Country by joining the military (just like Obama didn't)he does have a long history of serving this Country and it's people. 46th Vice President under George W. Bush............White House Chief of Staff under Ford.......elected to the U.S. House of Representative and re-elected 5 times........House Miniority Whip.........Sec. of Defense under G.H. Bush. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Your comment that you find it disgusting that Cheney is trying to undermine the President when we are at war. You go on to say in wartime you support the President and keep your fat mouth shut. WHAT?? Was that the policy when W. was slammed by alot of the Democrats, the left wing media in this Country and the Hollywood jokers that call themselves actor's? Not to mention the Cindy Sheehans of the world. George W. took hits every single day from those that thought they knew more than he did with regard to the war. So please spare me on the fact that it's only the right that comes after a Democratic President in war time. It's simply not true.

I never said that I didn't acknowledge that Obama kept Gates on as Secretary of Defense. While that was a good move I am not sure how much he is listening to Gates. Just like McCrystal. McCrystal wanted 40,000 troops to secure the area in Afghanistan. I found it quite troubling that Obama didn't listen to HIS hand picked General. And that it took Obama several months to make a decision. One needs to delegate to the person with the boots and on the ground and listen up when the General says I need 40,000 troops. You either trust that persons judgement or why the heck have him.

It is said that what you do the first day of a New Year you will most likely be doing it alot for the remainder of the year.........yikes it's going to be a bumpy ride. But, I too love politics and love you my friend.
Agree to disagree but respect the other persons view.

Read this daily quote today and thought it was great to pass on. I am sure you guys know it.

"Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I love it. Happy New Year. Love ya, Susan

Susan-
You did not respond to my comments about Cheney being so "brilliant" at protecting America and instead tried to change the subject. If you recall, you are the one who picked up on Cheney's comments and reiterated them on Garrett's post about full body scanners. I ask you a simple question:
What change regarding our counterrorism policy from the Bush administration to the Obama administration do you disagree with?

The reason you cannot name one is because there have been zero changes in our counterterroism policy. NOT ONE CHANGE! The Obama adminstation has kept the same policies in place, that is why Cheney could only come up with his partisan demagoguery. He is not interested in making America "safer" because he did not suggest a policy change. Cheney seems to believe that if we use the word "war" more often that will make the nation more secure. I am glad that you admire Cheney for "serving this country and it's people." You must also admire Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy for their long history of service as well! I eagerly await an answer to the policy changes that the great man has proposed......or is all just political???

Garrett,

I also have no problem with the scanner. Although going naked will not happen, maybe because I have not had the weight loss that you have had.
Also, I have never been inside an airport except to pick somebody up in Las Vegas once, much less ever been on a plane. So do what you all want. BUT...
If there are ever line slowing scanners at the entrance to Round Table Pizza, I will protest loudly.
