This Process will be on CSPAN

America has a long history of Politicians promising things in a campaign in order that the Electorate votes them in to office. With this montage that I found on Drudge this morning, the question I put to our President is "Why was/is the process not on CSPAN and open to the American public like you promised?"

Touche! We all know it wasn't really BHO promising to have everything open to the American public broadcast on CSPAN......it was his teleprompter!

I agree with Garrett that we should hold ALL politicians accountable: not just the guys form the other side of the aisle. I love the teleprompter swipe though, it makes sense after we had such a brilliant speaker like W who is such a good communicator and so well know for talking off the top of his head. Only an intellectually bankrupt party would try and discredit a former constitutional law professor as being unable to speak without a teleprompter.

Hey.... aren't BOTH parties intellectually bankrupt?

In all seriousness, Gar, again this seems to be smoke and mirrors. Why do we care if the negotiations are open or private when the idea itself is a violation of the Tenth Amendment and no one anywhere seems to care?

Does it really matter what we end up with or how we get there? We have abandoned the American edifice. Now we are just arguing over what kind of window coverings we want on the structure.

I completely agree,Brett. However I do care and I wish more Americans would wake up to what is going on. I am keeping myself as informed as possible and letting my voice be heard. I have attended tea parties and plan to continue to do so. Those that don't stand up and shout from the roof tops over what is happening to this Country will have no one to blame but themselves! Hang in there! Susan

Susan-
You might want to do some research about the founder of your "vaunted" tea parties. Dale Robertson, the founder of the tea parties, who runs the website tea parties.org was pictured on February 27, 2009 holding a sign outside a tea party event in Houston. The sign read:
Congress=Slave-owner
Taxpayers=Niggers

I remember how outraged you were at the comments of Reverend Wright and I hope you are outraged at the overt racism of the fat slob Dale Robertson. Lindsay Grahm came out today and said "the tea parties are not affiliated with the Republican party." I am in no way accusing you of being racist but I feel you must be held accountable if you choose to associate with such a racist group. I do not have the internet wizardry of Garrett but you can google the picture of Dale Robertson and learn all about him. Again, we both of love of country and I bring this up because you said that you intend to continue to attend these events. I am curious to know what policies of the Obama administration you oppose. Also you have not answered what counterterrorism policy that Bush enacted that Obama dismantled/changed/ or in some way differs from W's policy?

Garrett said...

Just like Obama cut ties with Reverend Wright, I think the Tea Party leadership needs to cut ties with Robertson......The fact that the Tea Party movement exists is part of what makes America great, it is our fundamental right to peacefully assemble to petition our government for a redress of grievances....But when you had people on the left calling Bush a Nazi and a terrorist...and people on the right holding up posters of Obama as Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight...and labeling him as "evil"

Final Deep thought...

Do the tea party groups want to abolish Medicare? Why or why not?

Matt: (part one)

I would never "knowingly" belong to any group that spews hatred and racism. While Dale Robertson was instrumental in getting one of the tea party groups started he is certainly NOT the figurehead of ALL the tea parties in this country. His site is teaparty.org. The 2 events that we have attended have been with the group Tea Party Express which Dale Robertson is NOT a part of. I'm sure you can google and dig up dirt on this group too, which could be fact or fiction. My reason for letting my voice be heard is simple. This country does not belong to to any one party, nor does it belong to career politicians. This country belongs to the citizens. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “We have given you a republic madam, if you can keep it.” The founders knew that it would be our obligation as citizens to get involved, and to work hard to hold on to this great nation. And that is what I am doing. If I find out that a group, organization or persons that I am involved with say one thing and do another I would remove my association with them.

With regard to the Lindsay Grahm comment, he is absolutely correct. The Republican party has lost it's way with regard to the Conservative platform that the party was set up on. The day's of Reagan are gone. That's another reason the Tea Party Express has come into being. In fact this might shock you but I have become very upset with the majority of the Republicans in the House and the Senate. While I support their rejection of the health care overhall I don't believe they are letting their voices be heard as loud and clear as they should be on the matter as well as many others. My feeling at this point in my life is that both the Republican and the Democratic parties are wholly corrupt, and they are just 2 heads of a single corporate/imperial party (with the main difference that the Democrats give an occasional token nod to the "little guy" and the less-affluent). I say kick them all out of D.C. Elect people who actually understand that they were elected to represent the people of the United State and NOT the special interest groups, etc. in this Country!!

I am glad to hear that your group is not associated with Dale Roberstson! I know that you would not be involved with such a group. I really like that quote by Franklin but he was referring to the threat from the British empire. He was in his late 80's when said that and he called upon all American citizens to support their government against another invasion by the British. (which is exactly what happened in the War of 1812) Franklin was calling upon Americans to be ready to fend off an invading army on America's soil, not stomp around because they don't like changes to health care.

Matt: (part 2)

With regard to the question of what policies of the Obama Administration do I oppose. I oppose the following:

1. Health care overhaul
2. Cap & Trade
3. Iraq
4. Energy
5. Economy
6. Homeland Security
7. Foreign Policy
8. Taxes

In addition let me say there is a fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives. Perhaps the biggest difference is our belief in the governments role in our lives. While liberals believe in having a large government to keep society’s wheels turning smoothly, conservatives believe that the government should be small and have a limited role in society. Liberals believe in taxing the wealthy to benefit the lower classes and creating more social programs. Conservatives think that taxes should be lowered all around, with less government spending on social programs as a result. It's the type of fundamental differences that have gone on forever and therefore the power struggle to regain control for each side has only intensified over the years. Each party has their own idea of what is best for the country or for themselves. I come from a belief that less government intrusion into my life is the best way to govern. I do not believe in the "cradle to the grave" mentality that the government has to take care of every aspect of my life because I am unable to do it on my own. A bit off track from the policies that I oppose but they do intertwine somewhat.

Susan

Are you saying that I cannot apply something that was said at another time to make a point about why I am exercising my first ammendment right by attending tea parties? And while Franklin made that quote in reference to the threat from the British Empire, some in America feel a threat from what is going on in this country. So please don't insult me by saying that when Franklin said that, he didn't mean it so people could stomp around over a MASSIVE overhaul in health care!! I pray that the "hope and change" will work out for you. I'm done!

Love ya,

Susan

1)That is exactly what I am telling you when you quote a politician who died in 1790. Call me crazy, but I think a little historical context is prudent. For example, I could use the obvious point and quote W when he said "the United States will not engage in nation building under my Presidency."

2)I hate to sound like a broken record on the liberal/conservative "way of thinking" but let us look at the facts. The "conservative" President W increased the size and scope of government over 30% compared to the "liberal" Bill Clinton. At what point do we both agree that these labels are nonsense? As to the cradle to grave idea of government care: I too hate the idea of government intrusion in my life. That is why I never use the mail, never call the police, would never put my child in a public school, never vacation in national or state parks, do not use the fire department, hate lifeguards at the beach, do not call the paramedics and I really can't stand those military people protecting my rights! Yeah, government is so bad! I also want to take away medicare and medicaid (sorry Grandma) get rid of social security (when are you giving yours up?) get rid of UCLA, UCSB, the Cal states, all pre-schools, all public hospitals (I really hate sick people) and live in this utopia where there is no government! Sounds like a great idea to me!

3) You gave me a boiler plate list of things that you oppose about the Obama administration but no specifics. I am pleasantly surprised that you are against the war in Iraq, are against the Bush tax cuts (which Obama kept) are an isolationist, not sure where you are on taxes, want us out of Afghanistan and want to dismantle our homeland security. Again, please give me specifics on legislation that Obama has enacted that you oppose. The only legislative issue that I can decipher is health care. STILL waiting to hear what Bush counterterrorism policy Obama changed/altered/canceled resulting in the attempted Christmas Day bombing.

And finally, what is this "threat" that you so mysteriously speak of?
